Easyread: A new attitude from Day 1, substantial progress in 3-4 weeks

Why do bright kids often struggle to learn to read?

There is a simple reason why so many bright children struggle with reading.

We have found that it is usually because they have used their intelligence to shortcut the reading process.

In the early stages they can memorise the very limited vocabulary used in "Early Reader" books. And so they can appear to be progressing. But really they are just memorising, and guessing where they have a gap. They are unaware that that is not really reading at all.

At that stage you will see a lot of wild guessing and hear a lot of resistance to reading ("I don't want to read!"). In reality they are just confused and frustrated.

They do still want to learn. They just hate working hard at something and failing.

But the solution is quite simple. We just give them the tools and confidence to read in the right way.

If you have a child or children who are exhibiting those characteristics, then I am sure we can help.
