How to Make A New Start

Have you seen your child memorising and guessing words?

It is much the most common problem we see. Luckily it is possible to fix that entirely, sometimes in just a few weeks. That is what we are doing 80% of the time.

But the reality is... without the right help, one in every five children reaches the age of 11 unable to read and write competently. And many schools do not have the resources needed to deliver that specialised help.

That is a life disaster for each of those children. And it is quite unnecessary.

Easyread can show your child the light at the end of the tunnel in the next few minutes. Just try our sample lesson.

Our Unconditional Guarantee

Because there is so much at stake, I am passionate that you should not feel any barrier to giving your child the opportunity to test Easyread. For that reason, we give you an unconditional guarantee that your child will be able to read competently in 6-9 months. If you are anything less than delighted with the progress you see, we will refund every penny you have invested.

It is our job to get it right and our financial loss if we fail. And you can bet we will do everything we can not to fail your child, because what he or she needs right now is success.

My Promise To You

Because of those two issues, we now pre-qualify every child before they start Easyread. You will need to make contact with us if you want to discuss doing Easyread.

What your child needs right now is success, not more difficulty. And we cannot afford to sign up children we cannot help.

Now, I know that what we do is not cheap. I am a parent too and I do know the practical limits of day-to-day parent finances and stretched cash flow! So we have set up a 0% finance option to help with that too.

So with that and our guarantee in place as well, the only question for you is... do you feel a successful outcome is worth the cost. All I can do is promise you that it is. You will see a different child each day, once this is sorted. We get that feedback from parents all the time.

The Easyread Approach

You will find there is a lot of confusion on reading difficulty and that can lead to defeatism in some of the people involved in literacy and dyslexia. Often they seem more concerned with how to help someone live while unable to read, than actually teaching people to read.

That is unnecessary. We find most children can be helped to confident reading in 6-9 months.

The key to success is to understand the individual reason why reading is difficult for your child, so that we can then sort that out and make it easy. There are 7 different main causes of reading difficulty and we need to fix each underlying problem that is giving your child difficulty. It may be one or more of the seven.

The only way to do that is to give you a supported reading system. We deliver our materials over the Internet, but we are in no way the equivalent of a CD or book series.

The truth is that dumb CDs and books just cannot deliver the same result. With Easyread you will be in regular contact with us as we guide you and your child through the process.

Our Competitors

This is a big decision that you need to get right. So, to save you time, we have gathered together a listing of our competitors. I don't think any of them match the value, results and guarantee that we offer, but here they are:

Knowledge Is The Key

We are always looking for the telltale patterns of different causes of reading difficulty as each child works through Easyread. It is a very interactive process involving your child, yourself and us. We will be coaching you, as well as your child.

There is a lot of background knowledge to that. We try to deliver quite a lot here on the website. But if you would prefer to read about it in more depth and on paper, then download the manuscript to the book I am due to publish this year:

In return... all I ask is that you send me some feedback on anything you did not understand or wanted explained in more detail as you read the book.

If you want to get an immediate idea as to whether we can help or not, I always suggest doing our sample lesson with your child:

If it goes well and your child enjoys it, we become very confident of getting a good result over the next few weeks and months.

Does Your Child Memorise And Guess Words?

As you look through this site you will find one thing coming up again and again. The problem we see in 80% of the children needing help is that they are memorising words visually and guessing the ones they don't know.

That seems to work quite well in the early stages, when they are 4 and 5. But once the text starts to get more complicated, it becomes harder and harder.

That leads to a lot of frustration as they have tried their best and find themselves on a reading plateau, falling steadily behind their peers. You will normally see a lot of negative emotions and resistance towards reading by this stage.

If you think that might be what is happening with your child, then you can see more information on it here.

Time Is Important

The brain builds habits and there is no question that it is harder to rectify the problems of an 11-year-old than a 7-year-old. So the quicker we can get started the better.

People often think "it will be easier to do Easyread when..." and fill in something for the blank. I know that emotion... but actually this is probably the most important thing in your child's life. So something has to be pretty crucial to take precedence over it.

The ideal age range for Easyread is 6-9, although 3-year-olds have used it and our oldest student is currently 74. So, there is no time like NOW!

Step 1 - Understand Your Child's Reading

OK, so the basis to our approach is to understand why a child is finding reading hard and then apply the appropriate solution for that situation. So, to get started on that process, please have a look at our dyslexia and reading difficulty pages in order to gain an initial insight into what might be causing your child's difficulty:

How Easyread Helps

There is a lot more detail on Easyread below, but effectively Easyread just gives your child the tools and guidance needed to learn how to decode words with confidence, with a short daily lesson over the Internet.

In addition, we coach and support you throughout the process. We are interacting all the time to check everything is going in the right direction. As the course progresses we are looking for specific complications that might be causing difficulty and then fixing them as we go. It is quite possible for two or three factors to be at work.

As a result, we find that 75% of children have caught up with their peers in 5 months and 95% are reading confidently in 6-9 months.

We back up what we say with an Unconditional Money-Back Guarantee, so that you can give it a go with complete peace of mind that you are not wasting any money. Our aim is to get your child reading and we do not expect to be paid if you are anything less than delighted.

10 Elements of Easyread Proof

It is normal to want real evidence that we can help your child.

First of all, I want to say that we do not make any of our claims lightly. I know that there are a lot of false promises around and I would absolutely hate to add to those. It is a cruel thing to raise people's expectations and hopes with something as important as this, without being able to deliver.

However, we are doing something new and it is getting great results. So I do want to convince you to consider it.

So, here are the elements of proof I can offer you:

  1. Listen to Ann Bauer (see above). She is a very experienced literacy specialist. I could add dozens of other similar videos.
  2. You can try our sample lesson to see if it resonates with your child.
  3. You can see the flow of new testimonials we receive on our blog.
  4. I can put you in touch with another parent who is local to you, wherever you are.
  5. You can have a look at our school results.
  6. You can check our listing on the government's educational standards website.
  7. You can read our unconditional guarantee. Only 1 or 2 in every hundred parents using Easyread has needed to take up our offer of a refund.
  8. You can pick up the phone and give us a call to answer any questions you have or just to get an opinion of what sort of people we are and whether we make sense.
  9. You can email us with any question that you have.
  10. You can look through our literacy information to see whether what we describe seems relevant to your child and you can read my book manuscript.

If there is anything else you would like to know in support of your decision, just ask. But in the end, there is only one way to find out; try it out for yourself.

With our guarantee in place, you are not risking any money. And you can search the forums for a complaint against us. We never dispute a refund if someone wants one.

Spelling

We are often asked whether Easyread helps with spelling, along the lines of "my child can read OK, but her spelling is terrible". What we usually find is that the child is a strong visual reader, as described here. There is usually a lot of sight memorisation and guessing being used.

Since they are not decoding the words they are not becoming familiar with the internal structure of each word. Once we get them to start reading by decoding each word, their spelling starts to improve as well. This is because their skill at decoding leads directly to an improved ability to encode.

Without making that change, they will never get significantly better at spelling.

We all know adults who seem to be able to read and write, but have terrible spelling. The above is usually the cause. Of course there are other possible reasons for spelling difficulty, but 9 times out of 10 we find this to be the cause.
