Dear Parent,
OK. As I understand it, you have a 4 or 5-year-old child, who has done a bit of reading, and you want to boost that and make it as easy as possible.
Well, you are absolutely right to want to do that.
Personally, I think we should make all of education as easy as possible. Reading is a big challenge for most children and if we can make it far easier, that must be the right thing to do.
We get a regular flow of bright children that come to us at 7, 8 or 9 having hit the buffers. And the only reason is that they set off down the wrong path with their reading. After years of struggle, we can fix it for them in just a few weeks.
But you don't want your child to go through that frustration.
Many early reading books encourage bad habits of memorising words by sight and guessing. They do that by using just a few words that appear again and again in the book.
Games To Play at Home
At this age it is great to practise hearing the sounds in words and to play with word rhymes. One good game for that is "I Spy with My Little Eye". Except you should make one crucial change. Use the first sound of the word rather than the letter. That will make it a very valuable exercise.
You can also "muck around" with the sounds within words. Make silly rhymes like "here is your bed of bread" instead of sandwich, or "its 8 o'clock and time to rock" on the way out the door in the morning. These plays on words will alert your child to the different individual sounds in each word (called phonemes). That will make reading much easier in due course.
Easyread at Home
Easyread is a structured course, that will lead your child down the right path. That can save a lot of heartache.
With Easyread you will see stunningly quick progress:
- A new enthusiasm for reading from day 1
- A breakthrough "aha!" moment in the first week
- A leap in confidence over the first 21 days
- Reading "takeoff" in 2-6 months
That will fill your child with a sense of being a "quick learner", which will infect every aspect of your child's education.
Unique Easyread "TrainerText"
The Easyread Foundation Course lasts 10 days and is full of the latest techniques for guiding your child down the right path.
But it is the lessons after the foundation course, which truly make Easyread special.
We use our unique Easyread TrainerText to allow your child to read our stories unaided. It is a bit like the trainer wheels on a learner's bicycle. With TrainerText, your child will be doing all of the reading process, but with the aid of our phonic images above the text. They are just there to help when needed.
The Easyread Process
We can set up Easyread for you in the next 5 minutes. Your child will then be able to log on and receive the first lesson.
Each lesson is just 10 minutes long and they build day by day. So once your child has finished lesson 1, lesson 2 will become available 12 hours later (after some sleep, to bed in the first lesson).
Since it is all accessed over the Internet, you can do each lesson from any PC connected to the web. We provide all the audio instructions needed for your child to succeed. All you need to do is support and encourage.
Each lesson can be done more than once. If you have a 4-year-old, that will probably be necessary because Easyread moves pretty fast.
The children doing Easyread are always keen to get to their next lesson, because they are silly and fun and based on the computer.
