Harrison Ford is an icon of classic Hollywood, having starred in films like the Indiana Jones trilogy, Star Wars, the Jack Ryan series and many more.  He has been nominated for numerous awards throughout his illustrious career, and there was even a point in time when 4 of the top 6 box-office hits of all time were his movies!

From a young age, Ford loved exploring and working with his hands. He struggled with the static nature of life in a classroom, and describes himself as having been a “sloth” in school. He was an active Boy Scout, and that love of nature has persisted throughout his whole life – he even has two species named after him!

It was at university that he first ventured into drama, hoping to raise his poor grades with an easy class. He was soon bitten by the acting bug, but unfortunately his grades remained low. He was eventually expelled from university due to his academic difficulties.

He moved to Hollywood in hopes of launching a career while supporting himself through his skilled carpentry work. He gained a reputation for excellence, and soon was working as a carpenter for some of the biggest names in the business, including Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas. It was through building shelves for Lucas that he landed the role of Hans Solo in Star Wars, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Sarah Forrest particularly enjoyed Ford’s film ‘Sabrina’, which she likes to watch when not working as an Easyread System Coach. Easyread is an online Guided Phonetic Reading course for kids with dyslexia, auditory processing disorder, highly visual learning styles and more who need support for spelling and reading problems.
