Dear David and Sarah,

I just wanted to let you know that Zackery started to read on his own accord from Friday.
He has been asking for it himself, we have not pushed the issue at all. Why is it such a big deal?
Well, he has never done it before. Reading was always a battle, something he did not want to do so we had to use all sorts of strategies to get him reading.
Now he is initiating, he does not moan after a few pages that its too much. He simply wants to read.
Zack picked his Oxford reading tree books, on Friday he read 6 stories in level one (of course well below his reading level at school but at least he wants to do it) and than he read The Gruffalo back to back. Twice.
Today after Easyread we read a story of level 4 from the Oxford Reading Tree.
We have a few words read from back to front, but much, much less. Also the amount of reading words that are not even there has gone down an incredible amount.

All in all, a great result so far. To be honest I have not expected this so early (just today we have done lesson 30).
Are there any suggestions or things we need to be careful of or look out for now?

Sorry to go on about this but we are stunned, shocked but most of all delighted.

Thank you so much for your help and support. I think that speaking to David has had an amazing effect on my son
