Parenting: When is “Bad Behavior” Normal?

by Sarah Forrest|| 23 May 2017

I loved reading this Psychology Today article this morning. Not because it excuses our kids’ sometimes suboptimal behavior, but explained the circumstances in which we parents should expect it.

Which of course means, ideally, we can try to work with those trigger circumstances before the behavior develops!

I’ll let you dig into the whole thing yourself, but my favorite reminders were:

  • Children have a deep need for movement (developmentally)
  • Children, even toddlers, are supposed to have a drive to be independent. It’s for their own growth and good!
  • Children respond to (and often mimic) the mood of the parent

Enjoy!
