Amelie’s reading has improved heaps! She no longer resists having to decode words for she has discovered that in fact it works better for her to do it that way! For us – that is a major break-through!!! No more guessing!
Amelie’s confidence in reading has gone up heaps and she is definitely not as scared to at least try. I have also noticed that she is starting to challenge herself more, as the books that she now selects at the library are a little trickier to read. Amelie does need help with these, but appears to enjoy it much more and she now asks to read together more often.
We do realise that Amelie still has a long way to go and hope that when the time is right her improved reading will also start to reflect in her writing. But nevertheless we are extremely pleased, grateful and proud with the progress she has made so far.
